A Hotel or Villa in Florida

By Craig Walker

After deciding what flights to Florida to get and where you want to stay you then have to decide on what type of accommodation is going to be the most suitable for you family or the number of people in the group you are travelling with.

Most travellers from Europe are generally used to staying in hotel acommodation when they go on their usual European holiday however the option to rent a private villa is more common in Florida than anywhere else.

What are the main differences between a normal holiday hotel as against staying in a private villa?

When you stay in a hotel room generally all the family are in the one room and depending on how many are travelling you may need more than one room which will add to the costs. When you have a private holiday home you will have more than one bedroom and a couch that can be made into another bed. So if you need more than one bedroom a villa can offer you this and may work out cheaper than having to get three separate hotel rooms.

Villas are generally furnished to a very high standard and offer more space than any hotel room would. Most villas are privately owned and the owners use them at certain times of the year.

There is a if you have more than one hotel room you may not get them together. It is even possible that you might be on one floor and the other room could be on another. If the accommodation has more than one building you could have one room in one and the other room in another.

Lots of hotels can be noisy and people staying in rooms nearby are free to come and go as they please. This means that there could be noise at any time of the night, especially if the people next to you have been out all night at a club.

A typical villa in Florida will have cooking facilities and a fridge that you can fill with drinks. Unlike in a hotel you don't need change for a vending machine located on another floor or need to wander around looking for the ice machine that is on another.

Some of the villas you can rent come with their own swimming pool which are generally quite small however it will only be you and your friends and family using it. Hotels generally have large pools which are shared between all the guests.

In the off-peak and sometimes colder months of the year the pools require heating and in most villas this comes at an extra cost. The charges for this vary but could be as much as $40 per day however in a hotel there would be no charge. - 15432
