Do I Need A Reason For Vegetarianism

By Jim John

People all over the world decide to live a lifestyle that involves abstaining from eating any animal products. These people can choose a vegetarian diet that fulfills their body's nutritional requirements and lets them live a long and healthy life. Why do vegetarians say they chose to live a meat-free life?

There are several reasons why individuals choose a vegetarian way of life, but the health benefits seem to be predominant among them. Hormones and drugs in cattle are commonplace, therefore, they're in your steak too. E-coli outbreaks and mad cow disease seem to be daily headlines. Obviously, these are significant points to think about when giving up beef, other meats and animal products.

If planned properly, there can be no other healthy alternative menu to meat and animal products than a vegetarian diet. Many folks consume meat just because it has always been a part of their lives. They have never thought about replacing the meat they eat with other delicious choices. All people should be able to pick eating habits that they consider the healthiest, and vegetarianism is the right option for many people.

The processing of meat actually involves the senseless slaughter of thousands of animals. Even in this technologically advanced world, man's cruelty to animals is nothing but terrible. That is why people opt for a far more moral and ethical vegetarian life. A number of people are still left in the dark about the system of production of meat. That's why they don't care. But once they really understand how it is exactly done, the terrible way it is, even the biggest fan of meat lovers would surely cringe to the stark realization and vow never to take another bite again.

People who love animals do not feel that animals should be exploited for the production of meat. These people feel that animals are sentient creatures that do not deserve to be treated inhumanely and killed so that people can eat them. It is possible to maintain health by eating things other than animals.

In addition, many believe that human beings are not meant by design to eat meat. They believe that upon close examination of human teeth and internal digestive system, the conclusion would be that humans were built to be herbivores, not carnivores.

Another reasons cited for vegetarianism is environmental concerns. There is so much hype and concern over global warming these days, yet most people are completely ignorant of how cattle farms are negatively impacting the situation. Millions of cattle are bred specifically for producing meat. All the carbon in Earth's stratosphere is largely due to cows, for they are huge producers of carbon. If you are really serious about wanting to do your part to safeguard the future of the Earth's environment, then choosing to go vegetarian is the most important lifestyle change you can make. - 15432
